“Picking the self-consciously alternative Another Man over something more obvious such as GQ or Vanity Fair suggests that Styles is getting serious about being taken seriously.”

jimmytfallon:

you know what i love about this magazine issue is that there is no traditional lengthy over-the-top article written by some random journalist who followed him around for a few months with a notepad and then went into an office, complied all their notes, then wrote some long five page thing with wordy descriptions about how majestic harry is by using a thousand pretentious adjectives and talking about how it felt to be in his presence as if he’s some untouchable god. there’s no outsider’s perspective laced with their own opinions while dropping in out-of-context quotes throughout. it’s simply two conversations with actual people in this business; one with a friend and one with an idol. it’s dialogue and it’s short and sweet and there’s no added commentary nobody asked for from a stranger. it’s casual and it’s just harry. it doesn’t need much more than that because more than anything, the main focus is on the photography and the unspoken words in his expressions and him exhibiting his collections and the little bits of him that he holds close to him. it’s about the visuals. it’s his own art show on paper. it’s all the things he didn’t or couldn’t say in those two discussions. it’s still guarded while simultaneously as open as can be, spread out on pages, harry saying “here i am” just a enough for the world to scratch their head and ponder and challenge them to look with your eyes instead of letting some random dickweed writer he doesn’t know speak of him or for him in words he’d never fathom for once. this is him in control and it’s the most interesting thing i’ve ever seen. it’s beautiful.

numberoneharrie:

We started off with a butterfly on his torso based on an old French prison tattoo inspired by ‘Papillon.’ Traditionally it would mean the wearer is a thief - something to do with the double meaning of ‘Je vole’, which translates as both ‘I steal’ and ‘I fly’ - and is commonly tattooed on the throat.
